What do doctors do if you have an allergy to a food?

Well, the title pretty much gives it away lol. But,anyway, might be allergic to a food or two,but I'm curious about something. If after testing, they are sure you have an allergy to something, what do they do about it?(Food allergies, not things like allergies to grass etc.).Do they just tell you not to eat it anymore or what?Just curious. Thanks everyone.Peace.

Yep. That's about it. It's up to you to avoid the foods.

yes, that would be the best way to prevent an allergic reaction. it is also important to notify places like school about it.

DOc—it hurts when I do this…
Doc: Well don't do that!

there are elimination diets that can help you learn what you are allergic to-
then basically stop eating it-

You can do this without a doctor telling you…

yeah, i waited a year to see an allergist, he told me there's not much they can do for food allergies. for thngs like hay fever, they can try to desentize you.

the doctor will usually tell you to just avoid the foods and probebly will prescribe you and epipen depending on the severity of the allergy…he may also give you the option of allergy therapy
