How can i lose my allergy to cats?

I have a reaction to cats when i am around them or touch them. Symptoms are sneezing, puffy and itchy and watery eyes, itchy throat, blocked and itchy nose. But i really love cats. Is there any way i can overcome my allergy to them? Any drugs or anything?

There are drugs, which you should use. Spending time around cats will decrease your allergy symptoms as your body gets used to it. If you get a cat you should groom once a week and a bathe them once a month, and install a hepa filtration system (or better) if you have central heating, or place indavidual air filtration ystems in the rooms you use most. Vacuming helps a lot and I mean vacum everything!

You can always take some kind of meds for animal allergies. Don't you watch the commercials? How about getting an hairless cat? Yes, they're ugly. But no nose boogies!!

I had the same symptoms and I took in a stray about 7 months ago. I took benadryl for the first month or two and give her baths and brush her on a regular basis. Now all of my symptoms are gone!!

to avoid cats as can as possible.
this is a best way to reduce your allergy of cats.

allergy medication is really the key.

also, bathing cats in dreft once a week is supposed to help, along with the house being swept and dusted regularly will help with your allergies.

Those are the exact same symtoms that I had toward my cat.

The solution:
—brush cat daily (use a dog flea and tick remover comb)
—give cat a bath weekly (using dander removing shampoo)
—if allergies persist, take a benadryl (these pills work so well!)
—dust and vaccum house on a regular basis

i have hardly had any allergies to my cat since i started brushing and bathing her! hope this helps!

I'm allergic to cats as well. I own two short haired tabby cats. I must have developed a tolerance to them because they do not bother me as much as they used to. My cat allergy gets worse when my outdoor allergies kick in (spring and fall mostly)… I've never taken any meds for my allergy, but you may need to. Possibly see your doctor about what type would be best for you?

Also, some cats' hair is worse than others. As I said, I can tolerate my tabby's fur, but if I go to visit my mom's and her persians sit on me for more than 10 minutes or so OR if I pet them then touch my face, I'm miserable for the rest of the night. Persian hair is finer than tabby and floats in the air much easier. For allergies, a short hair cat may be the way for you to go, just my opinion and experience.

Vaccuuming every day helps, ALWAYS wash your hands after touching the cat and DO NOT touch your eyes until you do so… brush the cat frequently to rid them of excess fur… Lint brushes are AWESOME for hair on furniture and clothes (I like the double sided ones, not the sticky paper kind)… Hope this info helps and you can enjoy companionship of the feline persuasion :-)
